Personal Stories
Behind every file number is a human life

Every immigration decision affects more than one person. Behind every file number is a human life — and often, an entire family whose future is placed on hold.
This section is dedicated to sharing the lived experiences of individuals and families affected by inadmissibility findings and prolonged security screenings linked to alleged associations with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). These are first-hand accounts of uncertainty, disruption, and resilience.
Through these voices, we see the real-world consequences of policies applied without individualized assessment: stalled educations, frozen careers, separated families, emotional and psychological strain, and years spent in legal and personal limbo.
These stories move beyond legal terminology and statistics. They reveal what it means to live in prolonged uncertainty to build a life while fearing it may be taken away, and to bear consequences for circumstances that were never a matter of choice.
Sharing lived experiences is essential. Personal accounts help bring visibility to issues that are often hidden behind administrative processes and legal language. They create space for empathy, inform public understanding, and help policymakers, advocates, legal professionals, and communities better understand the human impact of broad and indiscriminate measures.
For many affected individuals, telling their story is also a way to reclaim dignity, preserve truth, and ensure that others do not face these challenges in silence.
By sharing these experiences, we hope to foster understanding, accountability, and a more human-centered conversation around immigration and security screening processes.
If you or your family have been affected, we invite you to share your story. Submissions may be made anonymously, and personal identifiers can be redacted to protect your privacy and safety.
